Positioned typically on the forming section and the coating units of the paper machine, these doctor blades exert pressure against a rotating roll, facilitating the removal of unwanted material and enhancing the paper’s quality. Doctor blades also help remove debris, fibers, or any contaminants that may adhere to the rolls during the paper-making process, ensuring a cleaner operation and reducing the risk of defects.

 

At the wet end of the paper machine, doctor blades help remove excess water from the formed paper, aid in the drying process, and optimize energy efficiency. In coating applications, doctor blades ensure that the coating material is evenly distributed on the surface of the paper. This improves the printability and aesthetics of the final product. And proper alignment of the blade with the roll is critical. Misalignment can lead to uneven wear and reduced efficiency.
