After the pulp has been formed into a wet sheet on the forming part of the paper making machine, it contains a significant amount of water. Press rolls apply pressure to the wet sheet, which helps expel this excess moisture through a process known as mechanical dewatering. As the paper web passes through the press part, it is further consolidated. The pressure from the rolls increases fiber bonding, which enhances the strength and integrity of the paper.
