The Drum Screen is typically positioned immediately following the Hydrapulper (especially the Continuous High Consistency Hydrapulper). When waste paper is broken down into a slurry, it contains a significant amount of “heavy” and “large” rejects—things like stones, pieces of metal, plastics, wood chunks, and textiles. If these contaminants are allowed to move forward, they can clog fine screens, damage cleaners, and cause excessive wear on pump impellers. The Leizhan Drum Screen acts as a robust primary filter, separating these large impurities from the usable fiber suspension.

 

The design of the Drum Screen prioritizes durability and continuous operation. The machine consists of rotating perforated drums, a support frame, and a drive system. Its simple structure is a key advantage, maintaining high reliability even in harsh environments. To ensure no usable fibers are lost with the waste, the drums are equipped with internal water spray pipes. As the waste tumbles inside the drum, the water spray washes the fibers off large particles, ensuring only “clean” waste is discharged. Drum Screen operates primarily under gravity and at low speeds, making them one of the most energy-efficient pieces of equipment in a pulping production line.
